Supporting Earthquake-Affected Communities in Turkey

In February 2023, a devastating earthquake struck communities in Southern Turkey, displacing around 95,000 residents in the provinces of Kahramanmaras and Gaziantep. Over half a million people were left without shelter in the aftermath of the seismic event, deepening the housing crisis in the region.

Miyamoto Relief has partnered with Habitat for Humanity International to address the widespread concerns about building safety and support the return of displaced residents to their homes.

Hope Rises from the Rubble

In the wake of destruction, Miyamoto Relief stands united with the people of Turkey. Together, we are rebuilding lives, restoring homes, and creating a path towards a resilient future.

Partnering for Change

Miyamoto Relief has partnered with Habitat for Humanity International to address the widespread concerns about building safety and support the return of displaced residents to their homes. Our collaboration aims to alleviate uncertainty within the affected communities by providing technical training to families on self-repair of lightly damaged homes and offering comprehensive training and mentoring for government officials and municipalities.

Expanding Our Efforts

As we move forward, Miyamoto Relief is planning to expand its efforts in Turkey to include scaling up existing activities and incorporating new areas of support, such as urban recovery and assistance to local economies. We will also be providing housing, land, and property (HLP) support and offering support to humanitarian and development peers. Our overall intervention is expected to reach more than 95,000 beneficiaries through targeted campaigns and by providing construction technical assistance.
