Miyamoto Global Disaster Relief successfully coordinated support for the restoration of a specialized school in Kyiv, Ukraine that was damaged during an air raid in October 2022. Despite the explosion that impacted the building while 220 people including students and teachers were present, through the school’s emergency protocols all occupants were able to take refuge safely with no reported injuries. However, the blast did cause substantial harm to the building itself including windows, doors, roofing, and interior finishes – resulting in partial closure due to safety concerns which disrupted education activities.
With funding facilitated by our organization for emergency repairs and stabilization, the school was able to reopen just 2 months later in December 2022. Our contributions helped secure the building to once again be a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow. This prompt response renewed confidence in the school community during an exceptionally challenging time, as teachers and families grapple with the aftermath of conflict while seeking normalcy. We are proud to have quickly mobilized resources to aid this vulnerable school population through partnership with donors and coordination with local officials for lasting impact.
