The biggest need at this point is to have the financial donations to be able to make sure that we can take care of as many people as we can to the extent in which they need it. We are so grateful for all the donations that have come in

Help Restore School 165: A Safe Haven for Learning During Crisis

In the heart of Kyiv, Ukraine, there’s a school that stands as a beacon of hope for over 400 children. School 165 has weathered bombings, airstrikes, and daily threats, yet its students—children as young as five—show up every single day, eager to learn. Thanks to your incredible generosity last year, we restored parts of the school that had been severely damaged by air blasts. The roof no longer leaks when it rains, and there is now a functioning bathroom in the basement where students take shelter during air raids.

But we’re not done yet.

While we’ve come a long way, there’s still so much more to do to provide these children with a safe and nurturing environment. Right now, the classrooms in the basement, where students are often forced to continue their lessons during bombings, are still far from adequate. The lights are dim, the furniture is old, and basic school supplies like desks, chairs, and blackboards are missing. On top of that, the chemistry lab—destroyed during the airstrikes—needs new equipment so these children can continue their education.

What We've Achieved Together:

  • Roof repairs: Repaired bomb-damaged sections to stop severe leaks, ensuring classrooms stay dry and creating a safer environment for students.
  • Basement bathroom: A critical addition for children who sometimes have to shelter for hours during air raids.
  • Chemistry Lab: Cleaned and prepared the laboratory space, laying the groundwork for restoring vital equipment and allowing students to resume hands-on learning.

What We Need Your Help With:

  • Basement classroom upgrades: New lighting, furniture, and essential teaching supplies to make these emergency classrooms comfortable and functional.
  • Restoring the chemistry lab: The children lost their lab to bombings. We need to provide them with the necessary equipment and materials to continue their studies.

These children are resilient, showing up for school despite the constant threat of bombings, but they need our help to ensure their learning environment is safe and supportive. By supporting this campaign, you’re doing more than providing a desk or a blackboard—you’re giving these children the chance to keep learning, dream, and hope for a brighter future.

Why Now?

The war in Ukraine may not dominate the news anymore, but the crisis is far from over. Families are returning to their cities, rebuilding their lives in the face of unimaginable challenges. School 165 is more than a school—it’s a safe haven, a place where children can feel a sense of normalcy in a world turned upside down.

We can make a difference, one small act at a time. Last year, we proved that together, we could change lives. This year, let’s continue that mission.
