As a disaster-prone and vulnerable region to climate change, Greater Jakarta requires resilient and sustainable infrastructure to ensure safe development. Through an alliance with the USAID/BHA Komunitas Perkotaan Untuk Aksi Tangguh (KUAT) program, 13 students from Cal Poly’s Structural Engineering Students for Humanity (SESH) were on the ground from August to September 2023, identifying structural and urban risks in response to recurring floods and earthquake threats.
In collaboration with 23 local university students from prestigious institutions like Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Turamanagara University (UNTAR), this activity contributed vital insights to mitigate disasters and enhance preparedness in Greater Jakarta.
